i own three of them. (some of you may be going "hwah?!) purchased in this order with the following problems:
2 gen 10GB (fried firewire resistor) at 13 months after purchase, just when they offered the apple care for the pods it died, currently awaiting 3rd party repair)
1 gen mini skipping and touchwheel malfuntion (at 9 months it was covered, but the $30 shipping was out of my pocket; bonus it was personalized as a gift and they replaced the unit not repaired bu a brand new one with the engraving)
3 gen 15GB at 10 months the hold button locked and i need to repair it.

i'm really upset at the continuing trend rather than an improvement. the mini wheel didn't bother me so much as it was new interface but the 3 gen going is really ticking me off as i can't use it unless i'm hardwired into the computer.
