The return of the blog

10-30-2005

(title sounds like some horror film)

so since the last post much has happened.
i lost my job, was utterly depressed and then got another.
i had an art show of my mix covers:

  • i got my motorcycle license and ride everyday to work.
  • i saw more great shows including an intimate (and deafening) engagement with the gang of four. also the the modern blur vs oasis: the killer in AC and the bravery. an AWESOME show with the faint and a variety act in NYC (kudos to camel cigarettes for the organized entertainment; go kill some 21 year olds as making chic smoking and direct marketing is really good).
  • the best, however, was dead can dance at radio city: 8th row, and the pouring rain and cold night was a world away. so friggin amazing.
  • while addressing music, i made two more collections: another beats and mellower 2 disc collection and a raunch collection kata and her crew requested. that one, inspired by howard stern's 'there's some whores in the house' and 'shake that ass bitch', it truly is a great collection for raunchy sex moods.
  • john wrote another story.
  • i watched the entire first season of the new doctor who which was a nice little microcosm to reignite the series; often revisiting prior episodes and chris eccleston stepping away.
  • also watched the whole star blazers first season and the matrix trilogy. the third movie i did not see and while 2 and 3 were not as tight as the first, it was not awful. so many were attached to the universe that they could only be let down. now removed from the hype, it was good and surprising.
  • played tron 2.0, found out wendy (wrote the music) used to be a man.
  • bought a suit for $8 at a thrift store: my napoleon dynamite moment. fit off the rack. sweet.
  • watched nausicaa and had a debate which was better that or mononoke.
  • didn't get to yell at mike mignola at wizard world as he didn't show. hellboy the movie suck as an adaption and if i ever see him or del toro, they're getting an earful.
  • greg had a baby, shawn's expecting, denise soon too. danielle also. too many.
  • i now work 38 stories above the earth and can choose wherever i want to eat.
  • i am getting wireless internet monday and i cannot find a gift for my father.
  • i saw the flyers win in OT.
  • i also have a crockpot.
  • jim gaffigan's skit on 'cake' is so damn funny.
  • ladytron's new one is awesome. i knew when 'destroy everything you touch' couldn't leave my head for days that it was a good one.

exhausted now.

it has been a long, strange trip and its not over.
