when feeling Restless

i'm working on getting fined from the city on my latest photo assignment.
i started a forum about ALL CAPS and X-rated avatars.
in addition I started a forum entry on Hellboy in my personal forum:
So i'm not expecting much of the Hellboy contingency to frequent Spymac, but i'd share my appreciation with H.B. on the Eleven forum.
so for those not in tne know, here's a brief capsulization of "the big red guy with the 'goggles'".

i loved Mignola's style back when i was a kid collecting comics.
i didn't know who he was but really loved what he brought to the table in his heavy inked, limited color palette.
as for the palette, i think this was born out of the pre-fine paper comics and computer colorization. were he even 5 years later in breaking through as a well-regarded illustrator, his color palette may never have developed.
as for Hellboy, i'm a badge-wearing, B.P.R.D. member.
i love how it's progressed and the characters.
in that early-to-mid '90s revolt from Marvel and DC, most artist-writer creations were generic, hodge-podges of their previous work, some perhaps with an edgier feel than the big two would, at that time, promote, but has since embraced.
even Spawn was generic but took a village to create a suitable mythos that is somewhat enduring.
but mignola stuck by his guns: a self-professed 'bad writer', employing master comic storyteller John Byrne to help him tell a consistent story. he initially underestimated the lack of words would be his storytelling ouvre.
to put in in a personal context, i loved what he brought to the comic book format similar to what bill watterson brought to his calvin and hobbes comics serial:
larger canvases, rich, stylized illustrations and the ability to apply wit and action through their respective limitations.
so enough of a set up; you wanna discuss Hellboy, you got a spot to do so.
