Follow up 3rd Gen iPod repair

01-18-2005

post under-warranty repair of the hold switch resulted in the awareness of not squishing your 3rd Gen iPod. it appears a design flaw in the two halves – front and back – being too easy to compress and pop the alignment out of critical touch sensitive parts. the hold switch was a two minute repair. this weekend, i smushed it again and all keypad sensitivity was gone. seeing the halves were misaligned, i easily forced them back into place without the need for tools or cracking it open?only elbow grease.

examining my recently acquired first gen iPod - i love it - the design is sturdier. even the mini is sturdier. i'll have to examine the 4th gens to see if they improved it.

really, though, the 3rd gens are the worst designed iPods and i'm glad their reign was short. i hate the buttons.

see my pic in the gallery for my first montage of the iPod collection.
